2022 Sugar RushPragmatic Play
- Cluster pays
- Multiplier spots up to 128x
Sugar Rush fills a 7×7 grid with gummy sweets and rewards wins that land in the same place twice. Its sticky multiplier spots made it one of Pragmatic Play's most searched games in the UK. This review explains how the Sugar Rush slot works, what its RTP and volatility mean, and how the free spins build.
Sugar Rush is a 7×7 cluster-pays slot from Pragmatic Play, released in 2022, with a 96.50% RTP, high volatility and a 5,000× max win. Clusters of 5 to 15 or more matching sweets win, and winning positions are marked on the grid. A later win on a marked spot turns it into a 2× multiplier that doubles each time, up to 128×. Three to seven scatters give 10 to 30 free spins, where the marked spots and multipliers stay for the whole round instead of resetting.

The Sugar Rush slot uses a 7×7 grid and pays in clusters. A win needs at least five matching symbols touching each other horizontally or vertically, and Pragmatic Play lists base-game cluster wins of up to 150× for the largest groups. The symbols are gummy bears, jelly beans and other sweets, with the paytable inside the game showing what each pays by cluster size.
Wins tumble: the cluster disappears, the remaining sweets drop and new ones fall in from above. A single paid spin can chain several clusters, and that chain matters even more here than in most tumble games, because each win leaves a mark on the grid.
Every position that takes part in a winning cluster is marked. If another winning cluster lands on a marked spot during the same spin, that spot becomes a 2× multiplier. Each further win on it doubles the value, through 4×, 8× and so on, up to 128×. When a cluster covers several multiplier spots, their values are added together and applied to that cluster's win.
In the base game, the marks and multipliers clear when the tumble sequence ends, so they only help within one paid spin. That is why base-game wins are usually small: you need a long chain of tumbles in the same area to build the higher multipliers.
Three, four, five, six or seven scatters give 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 Sugar Rush free spins respectively. The key change in the bonus is that marked spots and multipliers do not reset between spins. Once a spot reaches 16× or 32×, it stays at that value for the rest of the round, and any cluster that lands over it is multiplied. A round that builds a group of high multipliers in the centre of the grid early can pay very well; a round that marks scattered spots without connecting them pays little.
Here is how the adding works. Say one spot has reached 8× and two neighbours have reached 4× each. A later cluster that covers all three gets its win multiplied by 16×, the sum of the three spots. That is why the biggest rounds come from a whole block of high spots rather than a single one.
The Sugar Rush RTP is 96.50%, as listed on Pragmatic Play's game page. Like other Pragmatic Play games, it can be supplied at lower RTP settings, and the casino chooses which to use. The game rules, reached from the menu inside the slot, show the figure your casino runs. At 96.50%, £1,000 of total stakes would cost about £35 on average; use the calculator above to see what that means for your own budget and stake.
The Sugar Rush max win is 5,000× your stake, which is £25,000 at the £5 UK maximum. It needs a free spins round where large clusters land on high multiplier spots. Sugar Rush is high volatility: free spins can take a long time to trigger, and the value of a round depends on whether the multipliers build in the right places. Sugar Rush 1000, a later version, raises the ceiling to 25,000× at a slightly lower headline RTP of 96.00% in our catalogue.
For UK players the stake is capped at £5 a spin, or £2 if you are 18 to 24, and each spin lasts at least 2.5 seconds. Autoplay, turbo spins and bonus buy are not available, so free spins come only from landing scatters. That makes the wait for the feature longer and less predictable than it can be in other markets, so size your stake for that wait.
Sugar Rush free play means the demo version, which uses play credits instead of money. You can play a Sugar Rush demo at UK licensed casinos after registering and passing the age check that UK rules require before free play. It is a useful way to see how marked spots turn into multipliers and how they persist in free spins. Remember that demo results say nothing about how the real-money game will pay.
Sugar Rush is not a common game for UK welcome spins, and no offer in our database currently names it. Casinos usually attach free spins to lower-cost games such as the Big Bass slots. If you want free spins to use on a Pragmatic Play slot, our free spins page lists every UK offer by game, and the no wagering page shows the ones that pay winnings as cash.
Sugar Rush and Sweet Bonanza are both Pragmatic Play sweet-themed tumble games, but they pay differently. Sweet Bonanza pays for symbols anywhere on a 6×5 grid and uses bombs that add up within one tumble sequence. Sugar Rush pays for touching clusters and rewards repeated wins in the same place, with multipliers that stick for the whole bonus. Sugar Rush Xmas is a seasonal reskin of the original with the same 5,000× ceiling, and Sugar Rush 1000 raises both the multiplier values and the top win.
Sugar Rush is worth playing if you like watching a bonus round build. The sticky multipliers give free spins a clear sense of progress, and the 96.50% headline RTP is fair for a high-volatility game. The downside is the base game, which rarely pays much on its own, and the long wait for scatters without a bonus buy. Play it at small stakes and accept that some sessions will end before the feature arrives.
There is no way to make sure you win on Sugar Rush: every spin is random and the RTP is fixed by the game version. Choose a stake that gives you enough spins to reach the bonus: on £50, 10p to 20p a spin. Check the RTP version in the game rules. Do not chase a bonus after a long dry run; the next spin is no more likely to trigger it. Set a deposit limit before you start and stop when you reach it.
